"This is a really great product with excellent customer support. The Apollo 11 is exactly as described on the site. Easy to install, operate and the menus provide ample options to modify. Thanks especially Honre’ who was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful on the phone for simple follow-up questions." - Frank Z.

My hot tub is over 20 years old. I have replaced the main control board 3 times over the years, this unit is all inclusive and a fraction of the price of the original replacement board. I was going to scrap the whole tub until I found this site. Now for $299 I have my hot tub back and my wife and I are loving it again. This is a great product supported by a great customer service force. I would highly recommend this to anyone. You will not regret it! 🙂" - Chris A.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Explore answers to numerous Apollo 11 spa pack troubleshooting questions below. If we don't answer your specific questions, give us a call and we'll be happy to help.

    Technical Details

I want to add a blower on 2-speed primary and 1 speed secondary. Will this support a 220 or 110 volt blower? What blower would you recommend with this unit?

The board is configurable by moving jumpers around. Any blower 120V or 240V will work. You do need to maintain the same horse power. Millennium blowers self adjust, so we would recommend them.

How many amps does the spa pack draw at 120V voltage?

Running on 120 volts, the heater will use 12 amps. Check the amperage on your pump for low speed. It should be 1-3 amps. The spa should be connected to a 20 amp dedicated line with a GFIC. You can open up the unit and set all the output and input amp draw voltages depending on how many things would be running

Does the ozone only run with pump 1 or only in filtering mode?

It runs with pump 1 low, whether or not you actually have a pump 1.

How many KW is the heater?

The heating element is 5.5 KW. It should consume about 22Amps at 240V.

Can I run a 120V, 1000GPH pool pump from the 120v pump controller? What is the maximum current draw for a single speed pump port?

The max is 240V. We recommend buying a 4-pin plug for the controller.

Does the Apollo 11 spa pack include a motor? If so, what is the horsepower?

This is the control and heat unit only. The Apollo 11 Digital Spa Controller runs motors, but does not include any motors or pumps.

Are the white wires in the controller the hot wire or the neutral wire?

The white wire from the breaker box goes to the neutral inside the controller.

What are the dimensions of the top controller?

The topside control panels is 7″ x 3″.

What size plumbing does this have?

The Apollo 11 Digital Spa Controller fits directly to a 2″ PVC pipe. Adapters are also available from hardware stores.

    Does It Support Air Controls?

Air buttons to turn on and of the pumps, blower and light will no longer be necessary as the Apollo 11 controller controls from the digital control pad.

Can The Heater Be Placed On Top Or The Unit Inverted So Heater Is On Top?

No, the heater cannot be removed. While the unit could be mounted upside down, with possible leaking, if you call us first, we’ll mount it upside down for you. Call us at 844 772 7220.

After Two Years, How Does The Unit Hold Up?

Read it straight from one of our customers. “I’ve had it 2 years now. I would say if I had to buy this controller again today I would. It’s been good to me.” – Andrew via Amazon

Will the pumps & Lights Shut Off On Their Own?

The pump cycles every hour, to heat the water and run it through the filter. When used, the pump shuts off automatically after about 15 minutes. The Apollo 11 runs 6 self-tests when power is first applied. This helps you diagnose a Lo pump problem (as well as others). The Apollo 11 also indicates when to replace the filter.

Can A 2-Speed Pump Be Used For Heating The Spa?

Yes! All three versions of the Apollo 11 Digital Spa Controller work with a 2 speed Pup.

Does the Apollo 11 Spa Pack Controller Have Freeze Protection?

Yes. The pump and heater will run if the water gets below the set temperature.

Does This Unit Include A Temperature Probe?

The system comes with its own sensors and does not need any other temperature probes.

I Have An Outdoor Self Made Hot Tub With 450 Gallon Capacity. Does This Have The Capacity To Handle The Volume Of Water?

The Average Hot Tub is 500 Gallons, so the Apollo 11 Digital Spa Controller will handle it well.

How Hot Will This Heat The Water?

For Safety Reasons, we cap the heat at 104 degrees.

What Fitting Goes Inside The Feed Power?

The hole on the side for the line wires is a standard 3/4″ connector. Please call us if you have ANY installation questions at 844-772-7220

    Will It Work With...?

Will the Apollo 11 spa pack work with two single speed 240v pumps? What about just 1 two-speed pump?

Yes, it will work with the two pumps and one.

Will this controller operate 2 two-speed pumps and a blower, plus an ozonator and LED lights?

No, the Apollo 11 will not operate 2 two-speed pumps. Only 1 2-speed pump plus a second single speed pump is possible. The Apollo 11 also connects with ozonators, blowers, and LED lights. For this full functionality, be sure to pick up the Apollo 11 V Pack.

Yes, it’s designed to work in this situation. It supports the 240v connection with or without the ground.

I have a Hydro-Quip (9000E, HT-600T) with a 2 speed pump which runs on low speed to circulate when heating/filtering. There is no separate circulation pump, will the Apollo 11 work?

Yes, it will. Simply plug that pump into the pump 1 receptacle. For old units, the Apollo 11 Top Side control will replace the buttons panel.

Will this work on a Sundance 780 Series?

    Yes, it will work.

Will the Apollo 11 spa pack work with a Polynesian Spa, and can I reuse old components?

Yes! It will work on a Polynesian Spa, but you may need to change or adapt some of the cords. We can specifically help out by knowing more about your unit.

I own an old Apollo spa with an M class control unit. Is this a direct replacement?

The Apollo 11 spa pack is a matched set, replacing the controller and control panel entirely. It also includes the heating element assembly as a drop and go replacement unit. Install, reconnect the blower, pumps, and control panel. Our unit becomes the new brain for your hot tub. The control fit will fit above the heater.

Yes. It’s a direct replacement hot tub control panel for the Balboa Spa Pack. The Apollo 11 Spa Pack has standard (Molex) connectors for all the pumps, lights, ozone, etc.

Will I Be Able To Use My Balboa Connectors?

Most Balbo controls use 4 Pin “Amp” connectors which is the same as the Apollo Spa Pack with the exception of the light, if it was a 12V light Balboa uses a 2 pin amp cord in which case the pins will need to be removed from the connector and inserted into the middle two pins of a 4 pin Amp connector. if the light is a fiber optic light, no change should be necessary.

    Troubleshooting & How To

How do I restart the unit after a power failure?

Reset the breaker your hot tub is tapping into. If your power up is still not working, please give us a call.

My spa is always at 108F despite the temperature setting at less than 100F. Why is this happening? My unit is reading 5-8 degrees higher than actual temperature. What is going on?

The most likely scenario is pump 1 hi and low are reversed causing filtering on high instead of low. This will generate more heat.

The temperature reads closer to the heating element than the actual tub, the water flowing out of the jets.

In some cases, mechanical elements are enclosed in a waterproof “dock box” above ground. When the sun warms the dock box, you may get false temperature readings.

Please call and we can diagnose this further.

After turning up the heat, the unit goes into default mode. What's going on?

Check your relays. Your wiring could be wrongly installed. If you have trouble, please call us and we’ll be happy to walk you through the troubleshooting process.

The unit shuts down at stage 1, but when pressing on the unit casing, the spa pack turns back on. What's going on?

Make sure to give the unit plenty of time to cycle. You could also test your grounding wires and make sure they are tight at the motors and casing.

During Tests, It Stops in Stage 2, With The Heater Sensors. What's Going On?

Most likely there is air in the lines creating an error. While in filter mode bleed as much air from lines as possible and then turn off the breaker and let it cycle through system check again. Call us if you need assistance.

After Installing, The Unit Stays In Filter Mode. What Do I Do?

Something didn’t test right. Turn it off and let it reset. Usually, it means the pump for the heater is not working, or the filter basket isn’t secured correctly. If you continue to have problems call the service number at 610 694 8700 so we can talk you through it over the phone.

Will Using A Regular Breaker Cause This To Stay In Filter Only Mode?

No, it will work just fine without a GFI.

The Spa Pack Fails On Sensor Test. Please Help!

Check the fuses. Change it and it finished the diagnostic

    What Is FTR?

    FTR Stands for Filter.

My Unit Has The Heater Behind It, With A Built In Motor. Will The Apollo 11 Hot Tub Pack Work?

Yes. The Apollo 11 system will work, but you’ll l need to re-plumb. We will guide you, but you’ll need to be mechanically inclined to execute the task.
